Iraq

The Republic of Iraq, with a population of around 35 million people, is one of the most populous nations in the Arabian Gulf. Iraq is rich in natural resources, with oil and petrochemicals accounting for around 90 percent of current Government revenues.

Known as the cradle of civilization, Iraq was home to the ancient Sumarian culture which flourished six thousand years ago, and the country has been a trading hub over millennia.

The northern region of Iraq is predominantly Kurdish and semi-autonomous, with the city of Irbil as its regional capital.
