Kuwait

Kuwait is located at the north-western end of the Arabian Gulf and has sovereignty over nine small islands in the Arabian Gulf. It is one of the six Gulf Cooperation Council states with a population of more than 3.75 million.

Petroleum reserves were discovered in the country in 1938, and have since been a principal driver of the economy, with Kuwait maintaining significant global importance as a major exporter of crude oil and natural gas. The revenues from the petroleum sector have been used to help develop the country's infrastructure, health and education systems, as well as diversifying the economy.

A constitutional monarchy, Kuwait has the oldest directly-elected parliament among the Arab States.
